Sync and family sharing

Your tasks sync between your own devices through iCloud. You can also share chores with the people you live with.

Sync between your devices

Dustly syncs tasks and settings through iCloud on every device signed in to the same Apple Account. You don't need to make an account. Just install Dustly on your other devices.

A few things stay on each device: "Reminders on this device", snoozes and, on the Mac, "Show in menu bar".

Share chores with your family

Sharing works with a household: one group of up to 6 people, you and 5 others. They need Dustly and iCloud, but don't have to be in your Apple Family.

Go to Settings › "Share with family".
Tap "Choose tasks to share".
Give the household a name, like "The Tans", and tick the tasks to share.
Tap the button at the bottom to share them, then send the invitation with Messages, Mail or a link.

Just me or Household

Every task is either "Just me" or "Household". Private tasks stay on your own devices. When you add or edit a task, choose under "Shared with" in "More options". New tasks use your last choice.

Who can do what

Everyone in the household gets the reminder for a shared task and can mark it done. A Done by anyone starts the task over for everyone, and the history shows who did it.

Only the person who added a task can change it, switch it back to Just me or delete it. If you don't need someone else's reminder, switch off "Remind me" on that task.

Join a household

Open the invitation on a device with Dustly, then tap "Join household". The household's tasks appear in your list. Nothing you already have is shared unless you choose to.

Shared tasks don't count toward your 5 free tasks. Only tasks you create do.

Manage the household

Go to Settings and tap the household. The person who set it up can rename it, invite or remove people, and choose the shared tasks. "Stop sharing" ends the household: shared tasks go back to Just me on your devices and disappear from everyone else's.

Others can tap "Leave household". The household's tasks disappear from their devices, and tasks they added come with them as Just me.
